Found in Bahia State of Brazil in the Atlantic rainforest at elevations around 900 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with a short, erect ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, coricaous, oblong to oblanceolate, light green, emarginate apically leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, triquetrous, to 4.8" [12 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with campanulate, fleshy flowers.

Similar to M infractabut with larger flowers, a larger, subandurate, acute apically lip, larger acute petals, a winged, longer, dorsally rounded, incurved column with a cucullate apex. Campacci 2005
