Common Name Trechslin's Masdevallia [Swiss Orchid Illustrator]

Flower Size .2" wide[5 mm]

Found in Amazonas department of Peruat elevations around 1600 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with furrowed ramicauls enveloped by 2 tubular, scarious, close sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous,narrowly lanceolate, gradually narrowing below into the purrowed, shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect to suberect, triquetrous, straight, [16 to 21 cm] long, congested, successively single, few flowered inflorescence with folded-tubular, amplexicaul in the inferior half, subinflated and slightly spreading in the superior half, shorter to as longas the pedicel floral bracts.

Said to be a synonym of Masdevallia bryophila Luer 1996 by many but Kew and I have kept it separate
