Common Name or Meaning The Triangular Petaled Masdevallia

Found in Putumayo department of Colombia and Ecuador in cloud forests at elevations around 1000 to 1700 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with slender, blackish, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly obovate, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and spring, on an erect, slender, 1 to 1.2" [2.5 to 3 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul, with a bract near the base.
