Common Name or Meaning The Truncate Masdevallia [refers to the lip]

Flower Size .4" [1 cm]

Found in Bolivia at elevations of 1400 to 1800 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender, blackish ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical, acute to subacute , narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the early summer on a slender, erect, 1.6 to 2.4" [4 to 6 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a bract above the base, arising from low on the ramicaul and holding the flower just below leaf height.
