Common Name The Singed or Scorched Masdevallia
Flower Size 2" [5 cm]
Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in cloud forests at elevations of 1400 to 3100 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous,elliptical, subacute to obtuse leaf that is cuneate into the long petiole below and blooms in the spring on a slender, erect, 2 3/4" to 6" [7 to 15 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul.
