Common Name Walter's Masdevallia [American Botanist in Costa Rica current]

Found only in Costa Rica in wet cloud forests at elevations of 2800 to 3000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, stout rqamicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single,apical, erect, thickly coriaceous shiney dark green, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, gradually narrowing and cuneate below into the sulcate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring through summer on a suberect, slender, [6 to 9.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul that oftens forms a capsule without the flower opening with a bract below the middle and has a tubular floral bract
