Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations around 1300 to 1850 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a short to more or less long rhizome giving rise t oclose set, disciform to elliptic, very compressed pseudobulbs carrying .
Similar species include M microtricha, M nigrescens, M niessenae and M tonsbergii.
