Found in Colombia and Ecuador at elevations of 1300 to 2800 meters as a medium to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial or epiphyte with an erect stem enveloped by imbricating sheaths giving rise to linear, conduplicate towards the base leaves that blooms on a cluster of erect, short single flowered inflorescence holding the flowers close to the leaf base.
