Common Name The Guareime Maxillaria [an area in Venezuela]

Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in wet montane forests at elevations of 450 to 2400 meters in the canopy of large old growth trees as a small to medium sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with two growth patterns; caespitose unifoliate pseudobulbs and pseudomonopodial shoots, lacking pseudobulbs carrying several to many, narrowly lanceolate-elliptic, acute, conduplicate below into the clasping base leaves that can bloom at any time of the year but mostly from summer till winter on an axillary, 1" long, bracteate, single flowered inflorescence that is held close to the leaves.
