Found in Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela, Ecuador and Brazil at elevations of 2300 to 2600 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing epiphyte with 2" [5 cm] between each compressed ovoid pseudobulb enveloped almost completely by deciduous, leaf-bearing sheaths becoming scruffy, filamentous with age and carrying a single, apical, erect, dark green, shiny, apically asymetrical leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on short, 1 to 3, single flowered inflorescence enveloped completely by conduplicate bracts
