Found in Espirito Santo and Bahia states of Brazil in montane rainforests at elevations around 1000 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with obovate-elongate, laterally compressed pseudobulbs enveloped by leaf bearing sheaths and carrying a single, oblong-lanceolate, abruptly narrowing below into the pseudopetiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on an axillary, 2" [5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence
