Found in Venezuela and Guyana at elevations around 2600 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with a more or less elongate rhizome giving rise to somewhat distant, erect to erect patent, ovoid, very compressed pseudobulbs enveloped in youth by imbricating, ovate, acute bracts and carrying a single apical, coriaceous, erect to spreading, linear-oblong, acute, attenuate into the laterally compressed, narrowly and deeply canaliculate, petiolate base leaf that blooms on 1 to 2, ascending, thin, 4 to 7.2" [10 to 18 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence enveloped almost completely by scarious, ovate, acute bracts with scarious, ovate, acute, much longer than the ovary floral bracts.
