Common Name The Pendant Growing Maxillaria

Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil in the general Amazon area at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a hard, elongate, terete stem enveloped completely by many tubular, imbricate bracts and giving rise to an elliptic, laterally compressed, sulcate with age pseudobulb and carrying a single, apical, strap-shaped, acute, conduplicate below into the base leaf and blooms in the fall in Brazil from between the leaves of a newly matured psuedobulb on a fascile of several flowers.
