Found in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador at elevations around 1800 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with clustered, narrowly ovate, laterally compressed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several leafless and leaf bearing sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, linear-lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, acute, conspicuously petiolate base leaf that blooms on a as long as of slightly shorter than the leaf, 6 to 8.4" [15 to 21 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence enveloped by several tubular, obtuse to acute bracts and carrying large flowers.
