Found in Venezuela at elevations around 1500 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing orchid with an erect, abbreviated rhizome giving rise to clustered, elliptic, ancipitous pseudobulbs enveloped by 2, deciduous leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying a single, apical, oblong-ligulate, apically emarginate and with an apicule, lightly attenuate into the base leaf that blooms in the winter on an axillary, .8 to 1" [2 to 2.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence enveloped completely by imbricate, membraneous, acuminate bracts
