Found in southeastern Brazil in the Serra do Mar as a small to medium sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with angular ovoid, slightly compressed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by deciduous, imbricate sheaths and carrying 2 apical, erect, long lanceolate, acute, attenuate below into the pseudo-petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on 1 to 3, axillary, 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence
