Found in southern and southeastern Brazil as a medium sized terrestrial with quasi rosulate, narrowly ovate, to ovate-lanceolate, acute, rounded base, shortly pseudopetiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on a terminal, erect, many sheathed, 8" [20 cm] long overall, rachis .6 to 1.6" [1.5 to 4 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with erect-patent, somewhat concave, pale green, linear-ligulate, long acuminate, glabrous to slightly puberulent floral bracts..
