Found in Meta department of Colombia in dense humid forests at elevations around 450 meters as a small sized, hot growing terrestrial with an erect, terete, leafy stem carrying 5 to 6, ovate-lanceolate, acute, basally clasping, petiolate leaves that blooms in the late fall and early winter on an erect, terminal, pubescent 17.6 to 19.72" [39 to 49.3 cm] long, peduncle 9.52 to 10.16 [23.8 to 25.4 cm] long, provided with 5 to 6, scattered sheathing bracts, rachis 5.48 to 10.2" [13.7 to 25.5 cm] long, sublaxly many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying externally pubescent flowers of unknown colors.
"This species is perhaps related to its Colombian congener M umbraticola but it has more leaves, (5 to 6 vs. 1 to 3) that are longer, 3.48 to 4.08" versus 2.2" (8.7 to 10.2 vs. 5.5 cm), a shorter peduncle, 1.54 versus 4" (3.85 vs. 10 cm), flowers with a shallowly ventricose-concave (not semiglobose-ventricose) labellum hypochile and epichile with broader, straight, ligulate-lanceolate (not narrower, sigmoid, linear-lanceolate) lobules."
