Found in Santander department of Colombia in montane woods at elevations around 1900 to 2100 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect, terete stem carrying laxly 7, ovate-ellip- tic, subacuminate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, terminal, pubescent, 16.12 to 20.12 " [40.3 to 50.3 cm] long, peduncle 9.8 to 12.52" [24.5 to 31.3 cm] long, provided with 4, scattered sheathing bracts, rachis 7.4 to 7.6" [18.5 to 19 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying externally pubescent, hardly opening, autogamus? flowers.

"This species somewhat resembles the Peruvian M minor in habit and floral characters, but it has longer leaves 3.8 versus 2.6" (9.5 vs. 6.5 cm), a longer rachis 7.6" versus 3.6" (19.0 vs. 8.5 cm) with half as wide floral bracts, flowers with a broader dorsal sepal .08 versus .04" (2 vs. 1 mm), and oblong- ligulate (vs. ligulate-oblanceolate) petals. Another species that is similar in appearance to Microchilus pseudominor is M quadratus. The latter species, however, has a slightly narrower spur and a ventricose labellum hypochile, from which the epichile is barely differentiated" Ormerod 2005
