Found in northeastern India, Bhutan, Sikkim, Myanmar and Thailand in tropical valleys and subtropical terai forests at elevations around 400 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with an erect stem enveloped completely by striate, tubular-adpressed leaf bearing sheaths and carrying several, linear-oblong, slightly and obliquely bifid apically, sessile, jointed leaves and blooms in the late spring and early summer on a lateral, laxly successively 10 to 15 flowered, racemose, to 6" [to 15 cm] long inflorescence
