Common Name The Small Flowered Microthelys
Flower Size .4” [1 cm]long
Found in Mexico and Guatemala on extremely sunny, sandy slopes at elevations around 1500 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial orchid with fasciculate-tuberous roots giving rise to 1 or 2, basal, petiolate, elliptic leaves that are not present at flowering, that blooms in the winter on an erect stem enveloped by tubular, acute to acuminate sheaths, 6” [15 cm] long, rachis, racemose, to 3” [7.5 cm] long, ascending, spiralling, laxly to about 7 flowered inflorscence with whitish green flowers with a scarlet spot on the lip.
