Found in Boyaca department of Colombia on the Eastern Cordillera in high thick, humid montane forests at elevations around 1000 meters as a small sized, warm growing epiphyte with fusiform pseudobulbsd enveloped by broad imbricating leaf sheaths and carrying several, plicate, articulate, deciduous, elliptic to oblanceolate, acuminate, bright green leaves that blooms in the fall on a basal, erect, peduncle terete, with 2 clasping, obtuse, scarious bracts, 10 to 14" [25 to 35 cm] long, simultaneously 5 to 10 flowered inflorescence with broadly ovate, somewhat concave, subacute floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate, deep orange yellow to canary yellow throughout, fragrant flowers .
