Common Name Frymire's Mormodes [original collector of species late 20th cen]

Found as a small to medium sized, warm to hot growing epiphyte from western Ecuador in tropical wet forests at elevations of 100 to 1000 meters with conic-ellipsoid, very fleshy pseudobulbs enveloped completely by imbricate, foliaceous sheaths carrying 6 to 8, thin, narrowly elliptic to obovate, plicate, subpetiolate, acuminate, deciduous leaves that blooms in the summer through winter on an erect, to 14" [35 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence that arises from near the bottom of a mature leafless pseudobulb.
