Found in Chiapas state of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Costa Rica in lowland montane rainforests at elevations around 500 to 1100 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with fusiform pseudobulbs carrying plicate, distichous, imbricate sheaths, elliptic-lanceolate, attenuate-acuminate leaves that blooms in winter through spring on a lateral, 8" [20 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence arising on a mature leafy pseudobulb with ovate-triangular, acute floral bracts and carrying fruity scented flowers
