Flower Size 1/5" [5 mm]
Found in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil in very wet montane forests at elevations of 200 to 2100 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with slender, ascending ramicauls enveloped basally by 3 to 5, tubular, hispidulous sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly ovate, acute leaf that is cuneate below into the subpetiolate base and blooms in the summer on a congested, successively few flowered, fasciculate, minutely pubescent inflorescence arising from the apex of the ramicaul with infundibular, minutely spiculate, enclosing the pedicel floral bracts.
"Recognized by the long-creeping rhizome with ascending ramicauls with unusually longer, narrow leaves. The single flowers are produced intermittently. Most distinctive is the oblong lip with a short, shapr lobe on either side near the middle and a large, thick, obtuse, retrorse callus at the base." LUer 1992
