Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina at elevations of 3900 to 4600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with 3 to 5, on a short, lateral shoot, elliptic-lanceolate to ovate, acute to shortly acuminte, narrowing below into the broadly imbricating, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a erect, rachis to 1" [2.5 cm] long, conic to cylindric-conic, very densely many flowered inflorescence with transversly oval, to sub-orbicular, erose dentate above, hyaline, shorter than the flowers floral bracts.
