Found in Peru at elevtions around 4400 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with 4 to 5, basal, not fully developed at blooming, rosulate, elliptic to ovate-elliptic, acute, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a glabrous, mostly enveloped by 3 to 4, loose cucullate-clasping, obtuse sheaths, 1.6 to 4" [4 to 10 cm] long peduncle, rachis to 1.2" [3 cm] long, conic, very densely 5 to 15 flowered inflorescence with opaque, sub-orbicular, obtuse to subacute, almost entirely concealing the flower floral bracts.
