Found in Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe in open wet bog verge and wet upland grasslands at elevations of 1850 to 2600 meters as a miniature to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with ellipsoid tubers giving rise to 2, basal, usually lanceolate, becoming bract-like above leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, lax, to 8 flowered inflorescence
