Found in western Sichuan province of China in alpine meadows at elevations of 4000 to 4100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with ellipsoid tubers giving rise to an erect stem with 1 to 2, tubular, basal sheaths and carrying 2, basal, subopposite, narrowly oblong to oblong-lanceolate, obtuse leaves that blooms in the later summer on an erect, 1.2 to 1.4" [3 to 3.5 cm] long, densely 6 to 8 flowered inflorescence with herbaceous, narrowly lanceolate, acuminate, slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts.
