Found in northern Taiwan in forests at elevations around 1800 meters as a miniature to just small sized, cool growing terresrial with a rhizome giving rise to an erect slender stem provided with a basal sheth and carrying 2 opposite, near the middle of the stem, deltoid to ovate-suborbicular, acute, cuneate to triangular-cuneate below into the subsessile base leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal, peduncle .8 to 1.6" [2 to 4 cm] long, pubescent, provided with 1 to 4 sterile bracts, rachis 1 to 2" [2.5 to 5 cm] long, subdensely 11 to 13 flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceoalte, acute, half as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrrying small, resupinate flowers.
