Common Name The Delicately Flowered Nephelaphyllum - In China Yun Ye Lan

Flower Size 3/4" [1.25 cm]

Found in Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Sumatra and Vietnam in broadleafed, evergreen, humid primary forests in soils dampened by mists and splash along steep watercourses as a miniature to small sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial at elevations of 500 to 1700 meters that has variegated, fleshy leaves and blooms on an erect, terminal, 6" [15 cm] long, loosely several [5 to 8] flowered, racemose inflorescence occuring in the spring and summer.

This species and N cristatum are said to be synomonous but there is a major difference in the stature of the flower as well as in the papillae on the callus of the lip. In N tenuiflorum the 3 rows of separate fleshy papillae are fused to form short plate like keels while N cristaum has 3 plate like keels with the upper margins lacinate with the many incisions narrow and deep.
