Found in Panama at elevations around sealevel as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with short, oblong-complanate, striate-rugose pseudobulbs enveloped completely by large, ovate-lanceolate, papery sheaths and carrying a single, apical, oblong-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, subacute, coriaceous, contracted below into the short, conduplicate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on 1 to 2, basal, arching to pendulous, 5.2 to 8.4" [13 to 21 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with narrowly triangular, acuminate bracts.
