Common Name or Meaning The Five Scaled Notylia

Found in Honduras, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela at elevations of 200 to 1200 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with oblong to oblong-ovoid, compressed pseudobulbs enveloped partially by leafless and leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying a single apical, coriaceous, oblong-lanceolate to oblong elliptic, elliptic to ligulate, obtuse to subacute, attenuate below into the pseudopetiolate base leaves tha blooms at most any time of the year on 1 to 2, generally racemose, pendulous, peduncel with a few clasping, short bracts, 5.2 to 18" [13 to 45 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate to lanceolate, acuminate, 2 to 3 times shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
Similar to the widespread N N barkerii but N pentachne has a papillose colmn
