Found in Ecuador and Peru in wet montane forests as a miniature sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte at elevations of 100 to 1500 meters with ovoid-ellpsoid, oblique, complanate, sulcate pseudobulbs subtended by a pair of scarious leafless bracts and carrying a single, elliptic, acuminate, attenuate to the conduplicate petiolate base leaf with the mid-vein keeled on the reverse, that blooms in the winter and early spring on an arching, loosely multiflowered, 6 3/4" [18 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with 2 remote bracts and small lanceolate floral bracts holding the campanulate flowers.
