Found in Malaysia, Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi at elevations of 800 to 1700 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a very short stem carrying 4 to 5, sword-shaped, fleshy, acute leaves held in a fan that blooms in the fall on an axillary, sharply ridged, to 18" [45 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with the flowers held in well spaced, 8 to 9 flowered whorls.
