Found in New Guinea and the Bismark archipelago at elevations around 250 to 1000 meters as a pendent, hot to warm growing epiphyte that blooms in the late spring and fall.

Schlechter states that the flowers generally are pale yellow but there are forms that are much darker and approach golden yellow in color.
