Part of the SECTION Teritifoliae-Scirpoidae O lichenocola Alliance with O aloefolia, O cariocana, O fimbriata, O rohrii and O spannagelii and are distinguished by the terete, curvered or straight leaves on tiny plants that have a fimbriate lip.
