Common Name Steyermark's Octomeria [American Botanist in Venezuela 1900's]

Flower Size 1/2" to 2"[1.25 cm to 5 cm]

Found in southern Venezuela and northern Brazil in cloud forests at elevations of 1000 to 1600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls carrying a single, apical, rigid, thick, tridenticulate, dark velvety green above, often bright purple below leaf that has a slender to filifrom petiolate base that is concealed by 2 to 3 close, tubular sheaths and blooms on a short, single flowered inflorescence with variable shaped flowers that can be from 1/2" to larger than the plant itself.
