Found in Boyaca department of Colombia in humid, cold cloud forests at elevations of 3000 to 3200 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing epiphyte with a ovoid, flattened pseudobulbs psrtially enveloped basally by 2 foliar sheaths and carrying 2 apical, oblong-elliptic, conduplicate, subpetiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on 1 to 2, axillary fropm the base of the uppermost sheaths, arching, to 12" [30 cm] long, racemose, laxly few flowered inflorescence with appressed, scale-like, acuminate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying slightly campanulate flowers..
