Common Name The Letter "M"-Shaped Odontoglossum

Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in upper montane cloud forests at elevations of 1450 to 3300 as a large sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial on steep embankments with cylindrical, flattened, elongate pseudobulbs completely enveloped basally by imbricating, distichous sheaths with the uppermost being leaf-bearing and carrying a single, apical, linear-lanceolate, conduplicate towards the base leaf and blooming at any time of the year on an axillary, slender, erect to arching, 3' [90 cm] long, shortly pedunculate, paniculate, widely spaced, shortly branched, horizontal, often rebranching, rebranch fractiflex, densely multi-flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb through the axil of a basal sheath and carrying very small flowers.
