Common Name Schiller's Odontoglossum [German Counsel and Orchid Enthusiast in South America 1800's]

Found in northwest Venezuela on ridges at the edges of the paramo at elevations of 2000 to 2800 meters as a medium sized, cold growing epiphyte with ovoid, compressed, ancipitous, tapering to a point apically pseudobulbs enveloped by 4 TO 6, distichous, imbricate leafless and internally leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying 1 to 2 apical, oblong-lanceolate to narrowly oblanceolate, acute, conspicuously attenuate into the base leaves that blooms in the winter through spring on an axillary, through the inner leaf-bearing sheath, racemose to paniculate, 8 to 20" [20 to 40 cm] long, few to many flowered, longer than the leaves inflorescence with oval, acute bracts and carrying fragrant flowers.
