Found in northwestern most Madagascar at elevations of sea level to 500 meters as a miniature sized, hot growing terrestrial plant with a woody rhizome giving rise to conical, heteroblastic, close set pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, ovate, acute, coriaceous, flat, slightly undulate margins, shortly pseudopetiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer and earlier fall on an erect, to 24" [60 cm] long, peduncle provided with 2 to 3 basal, imbricate, acute sheaths and 4 cauline, 2.4 to 3.6" [ 6 to 9 cm] between each, rachis, simple, to 10" [25 cm] long, well spaced to 15 flowered inflorescence with triangular-acute, 3 nerved, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
