Found from Vera Cruz, Puebla, Oaxaca, Guerrero and Chiapas states of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Santander department of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela as a medium sized, hot to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte that occurs at altitudes between 50 and 2000 meters in wet montane forests with pale green, smooth, ovoid tapering to a point pseudobulbs enveloped by persistent leaf sheaths carrying to 4, linear, acute, coriaceous, conduplicate at the base leaves that blooms in the late fall and early winter, on an apical, erect, arising on a mature, ovoid tapering to a point pseudobulb subtended by several, acuminate bracts, that is shorter or just longer than the leaves, 3.2" to 18" [8 to 45 cm] long, few-branched, loosely few flowered inflorescence with small, nodding flowers .
Oestlundia luteorosea is recognized from other species of the genus by the combination of, several noded pseudobulbs, much branched, multiflorous inflorescence, a whitish lip suffused with pink-purple, strongly adnate to the column and with fleshy, warty keels, spatulate petals and yellowish green tepals blotched apically with brown.
