Found in Peru at elevations of 2000 to 3000 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid with ovate, strongly compressed, ancipitous pseudobulb carrying 1 to 2 apical, oblong-lanceolate leaves that blooms on an erect, basal, paniculate, 3' [90 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence with 1 to 3 branches with 5 to 10 flowers on each branch that open successively beginning at the base.
