Found in Panama at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with elliptical to ovate, laterally strongly compressed, ancipitous pseudobulbs enveloped partially below by several pairs of opposite leafless and leafbearing sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, lanceolate, obtuse to rounded, gradually narrowing below into the conduplicate base leaf that blooms in the winter on an axillary, erect, straight, paniculate, 7 to 10 branched, spreading, many flowered inflorescence with 3 to 7, scentless flowers per branch.
