Common Name The Dark-Brown Petal Oncidium
Flower Size.6" [1.5 cm]
Found in Mato Grosso State Brazil in the hot lowlands as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with clustered, somewhat compressed, ridged pseudobulbs partially enveloped basally by 1 to 2 leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying 1 or 2 apical, dark green, strap-shaped, arching, acute leaves that blooms in the fall on an axillary, arching, to 12" [30 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence that arises on a newly matured pseudobulb.
Similar to O macropetalum but the most obvious difference is the petal color and size which in O macropetalum is golden yellow and the large dimmensions of the petals which border on the grotesque for the genus.
