Common Name Margalefi's Lophiaris [Mexican Orchid Enthusiast late 1900's]

This is a Mexican, small sized, warm to cool growing, epiphytic, mule-eared species found in pine-oak and mountain rain forest at elevations of 1900 to 2100 meters on the southern Pacific coast with subcylindric, fairly small pseudobulbs subtended by several triangular, purple at the apex sheaths with a single, apical, oblong elliptic, coriaceous, succulent, acute leaf that blooms on a basal, 12 to 16" [30 to 40 cm] long, several [6 to 15] flowered, racemose inflorescence witha few scarious bracts and a ovate to triangular floral bracts arising on a mature pseudobulb and having showy flowers occuring in the late fall and winter.
