Found in Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande Do Sul states of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina at elevations around 200 to 1000 meters as a miniature sized, cool to warm growing epiphyte with clustered, elongated to ovate, laterally compressed, ancipitous pseudobulbs that become rugose with age carrying 2 bright green, acute, leathery, conduplicate below into the base leaves that blooms in the summer in nature and early spring in cultivation in Sao Paulo on a basal, paniculate, to 16" [to 40 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence arising on a matured pseudobulb with short, distichously set branches carried towards the apex and carrying fragrant, long-lasting flowers.
