Common Name Retermeyer's Oncidium [German Orchid Enthusiast 1800's]

Flower Size to 3/4" [to 2 cm]

THE ORCHID IN THE PHOTO IS NOT CORRECT> THIS NAME IS A SYNONYM OF L lindenii.

Found in Mexico, Honduras and Belize as a small sized, hot to warm growing, mule ear epiphyte with small pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, keeled beneath, mule ear, tough, leathery acute leaf and is often has a dull purple color that blooms in the fall and winter on a, to 6' [180 cm] long, multi-branched panicle with successively opening, waxy, heavy textured flowers occuring over several months with only a few open at a time. Definitely not O retemeyeriana checked against Reichenbachs original drawing. Closer to O oestlundiana but differs in the smaller lip apex.
