Common Name Schroeder's Oncidium [English Orchid Enthusiast 1800's]

Flower Size 1 2/5" x 2 3/4" [3.5 x 7 cm]

Found in Costa Rica and Panama in premontane cloud forests as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte at elevations of 900 to 1400 meters with elliptic-oblong, coarsely sulcate pseudobulbs subtended by foliaceous bracts which turn papery, 1 to 2, subcoriaceous, abaxially carinate, conduplicate at the base leaves that blooms in the spring summer and early fall on an erect to arching, 8" [20 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb, subtended with triangular bracts carrying fragrant spice to carnation scented, waxy flowers.
